Women Presidential Campaign Team of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has brought succor to 400 victims of the flood disaster that recently ravaged Yobe State with a cash donation of N20 million. The team also presented the victims with food and essential household items donated by the First Lady and wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari.
The wife of the APC Presidential candidate, Senator Oluremi Tinubu who led the team to Damaturu, the Yobe State capital at the weekend said the gesture was in continuation of the reach-out programme of the APC Women Presidential Campaign Team to victims of the recent nationwide flood disaster. Donating, Tinubu said 400 victims will be supported with N50, 000 each to enable them to recapitalize their small-scale businesses which they were engaged in before the flooding occurred.
Addressing the victims in Damaturu, Tinubu said the team found it necessary to visit the state to commiserate with the people over the natural disaster that destroyed their source of. “We found it necessary to visit Yobe State to commiserate with the people over the natural disaster that has destroyed their livelihoods. We sympathised with the victims and prayed that God averts a recurrence,” she said. She was accompanied on the visit by the wife of the party’s Vice Presidential candidate, Hajiya Nana Shetimma and other leaders of the team.
The Governor of Yobe state, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, who received the donation and the relief materials, appreciated the team for their visit and donations. He stressed that the donated cash and food items will go a long way in bringing succor to the victims. The team also paid a condolence visit to the Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji Shehu Hashimi Ibn El-Kanemi II, over the recent demise of his son, Abba Sadiq Shehu Hashimi.
The women’s wing of the APC presidential campaign team has continued to identify with people affected by the recent flood disaster in some states across the country with cash, food and essential household items donated to the victims.
